How to make Halloween makeup
Are you planning a Halloween costume that requires face and/or body painting? Halloween makeup is readily available in an assortment of colors, but it is easy to make yourself and then you get to know what you are actually slathering on your skin. The makeup at the store could be something scraped up from a polluted Chinese factory drain for all anyone knows. You will also gain more color options by whipping up your own Halloween makeup.
Here are the ingredients you will need to make one small batch of Halloween face or body paint. None of these items are expensive.
2 Tablespoons vegetable shortening
5 teaspoons cornstarch
1 Tablespoon all purpose flour
3 to 4 drops glycerin (get it at a drugstore)
Box of food coloring with basic colors
Cold cream (like Pond's or Noxzema)
Mix the shortening, cornstarch, and flour. This will make a paste. Then add the glycerin and stir thoroughly. The glycerin will make the makeup smoother and easier to spread. Now you can add the food coloring one drop at a time to create the color you want. Remember that colors can be combined to create other colors.
Repeat this process to make as many batches of makeup in as many different colors as you need. Use cotton swabs or makeup sponges to apply the paint to your face or body. You will use the cold cream to wash the makeup off. You will probably need to use a lot of cold cream, so buy a big jar.
Have a good time on Halloween and enjoy making your fresh, homemade makeup free from mystery ingredients.
